SINGAPORE (AP) - Malaysian-based AirAsia said Friday that it could decide as early as next week whether to launch a joint venture, based in neighboring Singapore, to compete with the city-state's fledgeling no-frills airlines.
AirAsia has abandoned plans to fly the lucrative Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route after failing to negotiate service fees with Singapore's Changi Airport that would let the airline keep ticket prices low, Chief Executive Tony Fernandes said.
