BEIJING: China’s economy grew 8.5% in 2003, the fastest pace in six years, the country’s tax chief said Monday in a sneak preview of the official figure to come out next week.
“Tax revenue grew by 20.3% while GDP (gross domestic product) grew by just 8.5%,” Xie Xuren, commissioner of the State Administration of Taxation, told reporters.
