EXCEPT by investors looking for steady dividend payments, Guinness had not been particularly sought after since the last national budget, when alcohol duties were raised, and with keen competition between breweries. But following market share gains and double-digit growth in its beer sales in the first quarter of its fiscal year, plus easing competition between the breweries, a research house said it now expected Guinness to perform much better than earlier forecast.
