Synergy set to give huge boost to Penang agro

SYNERGY Farm (M) Sdn Bhd’s plan to export 1.3 million tonnes of Cavendish bananas a week to China's Liaoning Province will revolutionise Penang’s agricultural industry, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Hilmi Yahaya said.

If the market study were found to be viable, the bananas worth RM1.3bil would be sent by vessel to the province that had a population of 20 million, he said, adding that the province's close proximity to the borders of Mongolia and Russia would be an added advantage to further expand the network.
