BOP surplus widens by 67.5% in Q3

THE surplus in Malaysia's overall balance of payments (BOP) widened by an impressive 67.5% or RM5.6bil to RM13.9bil for the third quarter of 2003 from RM8.3bil in the second quarter, the statistics department said yesterday. 

In its report on the country's balance of payments performance for the July-September quarter of last year, the department said the current account surplus rose 22% to RM13.9bil for the period from RM11.4bil in the second quarter.
