Iris Corp Bhd expects a surge in the use of chip embedded passports globally by the end of next year, according to its managing director Datuk Tan Say Jim.
This was due to the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO) recommendation in May this year that all 188-member countries should adopt the use of contactless smart card or integrated circuit technology as the globally interoperable data storage device of choice for use with machine readable travel documents.
