WASHINGTON: The US economy grew at its fastest rate in nearly 20 years in the third quarter, boosted by robust consumer spending that carried into the closing months of the year, according to the latest government reports.
The Commerce Department said the countrys gross domestic product (GDP) advanced at an 8.2% annual rate in the three months to July through September more than double the 3.1% pace recorded in the second quarter.
