Perak gets fresh plan for aluminium smelter

THE Perak state government has received a fresh proposal from a company prepared to invest about RM9.3bil in an aluminium smelting plant in the Manjung district following its failure to attract Masco Aluminium to set up its operations there.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali said representatives from the company, which he declined to identify, had met him yesterday and expressed intention to set up an aluminium plant after hearing that Masco was setting up a plant in Johor instead.
