IN WHAT dealers described as “pure window-dressing” ahead of the long Hari Raya Aidil Fitri break, frenzied buying in the last few minutes of trading yesterday drove the KL stock market higher after it had languished in negative territory almost all day.
The KLSE Composite Index (CI) shot up almost 15 points in the last 15 minutes of trading as buyers snapped up index-linked blue chips like Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Maxis Communications Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Bhd. The CI eventually closed at 784.47 for a 7.26-point gain for the day.
