SKB Shutters Corp Bhd will launch two new products – the Multipurpose 3D Window Frame and the Speed Rack – under its own brand name SKB early next year.
Its group chief executive officer Danny Sin told StarBiz the group would initially make the new products at its existing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor.
”We will shift production to Taman Sains Selangor, Kota Damansara, when our RM40mil plant is ready next March,” he added.
Sin said the group would next year allocate between RM10mil and RM15mil to buy new machinery for its plant in Taman Sains Selangor, which would have three times the production capacity of its present plant.
Sin said about 50% of both products was targeted for sale in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Middle East. The balance would be sold locally.
“We are in the process of appointing distributors locally and overseas,” he said.
Sin said the two new products were expected to contribute substantially to the group's revenue next year.
“The selling point of the Multipurpose 3D Window Frame is that it provides better security, is simple to install and can be used for commercial and residential housing projects.
“Once installed, any upgrading work on the window frame will not require any hacking of walls.
“The Speed Rack is a do-it-yourself lightweight boltless shelf wing that is easy to assemble on your own. Its height and width are adjustable,” he added.
Sin said SKB invested RM500,000 in six months of research and development on the two products. The group also plans to penetrate the US, Indonesia and China markets with the new products.
“We are considering establishing a sales office in the US and Indonesia next year, and targeting to set up a similar office in China the following year,” he said.
Sin said shutters contributed 50% to SKB's yearly revenue, racks 30%, and contract manufacturing services the remaining.
