Plastics conference to discuss regional, global trends and recycling

A BROAD range of topics from regional and global trends to profiting via recycling will be presented at the Second International Malaysia-Japan Plastics Conference 2004. 

The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA) said in a statement the conference would carry the theme of “Plastics Technology and Smart Partnership for Global Competitiveness” and would be held from Jan 6-7, 2004, in Putrajaya. 

Among the topics are Natural Rubber-based Thermoplastic Elastomer and High Impact Polystyrene, Nanotechnology Project in Japan, Technology and Global Plastics Litter, Polymers for Biomedical Applications and Plastics Compounding for Automotive Applications

Three concurrent breakaway sessions would focus on injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion and other processes, it said. 

The conference would provide a forum for key players to discuss and share views on the development and latest applications of plastics for current and future uses, MPMA said. 

The event is organised by the MPMA, and is sponsored by Texchem Resources Bhd, with support from the Japan Society for Polymer Processing and the Society of Polymer Science Japan.  

Participation fee is RM650 for MPMA members and RM850 for non-members while for foreign members it will be US$250 and foreign non-members US$400, inclusive of conference materials, refreshments and lunches.
