Analysts: Public Bank on solid ground

IT'S not for nothing that Public Bank Bhd (PBB) is considered one of the most solid banks in the country. Except for minor hiccups, the bank has lived up to this reputation, making it a perennial favourite with many a fund manager.

Analysts said the failure of a proposal to privatise its Hong Kong unit JCG Holdings had not impact negatively on the bank, although they believe the move would have boosted the bank's return on equity in the longer term.
