PGas H1 profit down to RM380m on smaller output

Petronas Gas Bhd's (PGas) pre-tax profit dropped to RM380.3mil for the half-year ended Sept 30 from RM427.6mil in the previous corresponding period due to smaller volume of gas processed as a result of lower demand from the power sector. 

Turnover was marginally lower at RM1.106bil against RM1.11bil in the previous corresponding period.  

Its net profit was also lower at RM332.3mil compared with RM360.5mil. The six-month earnings per share (EPS) came in at 16.79 sen compared with 18.22 sen previously. 

For the quarter ended Sept 30, PGas recorded a lower pre-tax profit of RM160.6mil against RM221.4mil previously. Turnover fell to RM545.3mil from RM570.2mil in the previous corresponding quarter. 

Quarterly net profit was RM141mil compared with RM186.7mil while EPS was at 7.13 sen against 9.43 sen previously. 

PGas has declared 10 sen dividend per share for the quarter.
