SKS Power has been granted a licence to construct, operate and own a 2, 100-MW coal-fired power plant at Tanjung Bin in Johor state for 25 years from Aug 31, 2006.
The first unit of the plant is expected to be operating commercially from Aug 31, 2006, while the second and third units are expected to come on-stream at subsequent six-monthly intervals.
“Setting the precedent, SKS Power is the first independent power producer (IPP) in Malaysia to bear an element of demand risk under its power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaga Nasional Bhd,” RAM said in a statement. – AFX
