TOKYO: NEC Electronics reported a 65% jump in quarterly net profit yesterday and announced investment plans to ramp up production of “system” chips used in mobile phones and DVD recorders.
In order to meet rising demand, Japan’s third largest chipmaker said it would boost capital expenditure by 20% and build a new production line using 300mm wafers.
