AMPROPERTY TRUST MANAGEMENT BHD, the manager of AmFirst Property (AmFPT), has changed the name of one of the Trust properties, Wisma Kimseah, to AmBank Group Leadership Centre (AmGLC). AmGLC had been revalued at RM19mil or about RM329 per sq ft on an open market value on July 17.
The new valuation represents an increase of some 5.6% over the last valuation (value incorporated in the books as approved by the Securities Commission) of AmGLC at RM18mil in July 2000. – Bernama
SYARIKAT TAKAFUL MALAYSIA BHD has recommended a first and final dividend of 4.5 sen per share (less 28% tax) for the financial year ended June 30. The proposed dividend rate of 4.5%, based on its enlarged share capital of 143 million shares after the bonus issue of 11 million shares and the rights issue of 77 million shares, represents a net dividend payment of RM4.63mil (net of 28% tax). – Bernama
THE Bakun Dam will have a ready consumer in SMELTER ASIA, which will consume up to half of the dam’s electricity output when the aluminium smelter is operational in 2007. Gulf International Investment Group (GIIG), the investor of Smelter Asia, had given the go-ahead for the development of the smelter plant, GIIG said in a statement.
The smelter plant would purchase up to 1000MW from Bakun. “This creates a guaranteed level of demand for more than 50% of Bakun energy,” the statement added.
The US$2bil Smelter Asia will have a maximum production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year. “Acting as an anchor, Smelter Asia’s presence in Similanjau is set to bring clear benefits and guarantee a revenue stream for the Bakun hydroelectric project,” it said.
SELANGOR PROPERTIES BHD recorded a lower pre-tax profit of RM65.33mil for the nine months ended July 31 compared with RM112.15mil in the equivalent period last year. Its revenue stood at RM154.08mil, up from RM82.11mil previously, but earnings per share fell to 16.94 sen from 27.28 sen last year. – Bernama
TALAM CORP BHD posted a lower pre-tax gain of RM34.28mil for the second quarter ended July 31 against RM35.15mil in the 2002 corresponding quarter. Its revenue fell to RM390.36mil from RM489.04mil last year. – Bernama

SAPURA MOTORS BHD posted a lower pre-tax gain of RM2.85mil for the second quarter ended July 31 versus RM8.26mil in the equivalent period last year. Turnover also fell to RM52.14mil from RM62.30mil previously. – Bernama
MINTYE INDUSTRIES BHD recorded a higher pre-tax profit of RM5.31mil for the six months to July 31 compared with RM3.93mil in the corresponding period last year.
Revenue rose to RM24.69mil from RM22.26mil previously. Its earnings per share increased to 6.54 from 5.87 sen. – Bernama
Yinson Holdings Bhd posted a higher pre-tax profit of RM704,000 for the second quarter ended July 31 against RM361,000 in the 2002 corresponding period. Revenue rose to RM86.14mil from RM72.26mil. Earnings per share rose to 1.48 from 0.38 sen last year. – Bernama
