SINGAPORE: The city-state and Australia signed a new air services pact yesterday that fell short of an open skies deal sought for a decade by Singapore Airlines (SIA) to gain access to the lucrative Australian-US routes.
The pact, coming seven months after the two countries signed a free trade agreement, removes restrictions for Singapore and Australian carriers on the frequency of flights between the two countries, effective immediately.
