PERUSAHAAN Otomobil Nasional Bhd (Proton) faces a daunting challenge to compete in a liberalised market, judging by comments at a seminar on Monday on China and globalisation.

Speakers on the automotive sector at the seminar on Global Business Revolution & The Awakening of China's Big Business agreed that judging by the trend of smaller car players being swallowed up by far larger ones, it would be a huge task for Proton to stay competitive in the motor vehicle market.
