DEVELOPERS lauded the timely reprieve from having to build low- and low-medium-cost housing as the responsibility will be taken over by the government, particularly through Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB).
In presenting Budget 2004 yesterday, Dr Mahathir said the move was to reduce the burden of private housing developers, who would be given the choice of either implementing the construction of 30% of low-cost houses or allowing SPNB to undertake its construction.
