MALAYSIA will benefit from the Asean Free Trade Area (Afta) as seen from the growing volume in intra-Asean trade since its implementation, according to Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president Datuk Mustafa Mansur.
Mustafa said the manufacturing sector was plagued by setbacks due to the global economic downturn and the weakened US economy in the early part of this year, but these had been mitigated by the growing trade between Malaysia and other Asean countries as a result of Afta.
