TAIWAN is looking at Malaysia as a strategic production hub for information technology (IT) products in South-East Asia, with emphasis on digital content and multimedia products.
Dr Ferng Ching Lin, chairman of the Institute for Information Industry of Taiwan, said: The recent SARS crisis has indicated that Malaysia will be an ideal location for Taiwan's manufacturing base to cater to its overseas market as we do not want to solely depend on our main manufacturing base in China.
