Rediffusion returns to the black with RM15.6m Q1 net profit

REDIFFUSION Bhd has returned to the black, posting a net profit of RM15.6mil for the first quarter ended June 30 compared with a net loss of RM236,000 in the previous corresponding period. 

Its pre-tax profit jumped to RM16.4mil for the quarter from RM101,000 previously, while revenue rose to RM12.5mil from RM10mil.  

Earnings per share came in at 83.74 per share compared with loss per share of 1.26 sen. 

The company's profit was boosted by other operating income amounting to RM15.5mil. 

In a statement to the KLSE yesterday, Rediffusion expected the group's profitability to improve in financial year ending March 31, 2004 with advertising media service and loan financing to be the major contributors. 

Rediffusion's net tangible assets per share grew to RM2.06 as at June 30 from RM1.14 a year ago.
