Foreign business news in brief


LONDON: British entrepreneur Richard Branson’s airline Virgin Atlantic is in talks to buy aircraft worth about £1bil, saying it intends to ramp up its expansion programme despite tough market conditions. 

Virgin said it had started talks with European aircraft maker Airbus and the latter’s US rival Boeing to buy up to 10 aircraft in addition to the 13 it had already ordered for delivery in the next few years.
