Nestle Q2 pre-tax profit lower due to sugar business closure

Nestle (M) Bhd has reported a pre-tax profit of RM43.5mil for the second quarter ended June 30, down substantially from RM69.9mil in the corresponding period last year due mainly to the closure of its sugar confectionary business. 

Revenue for the latest quarter fell to RM675.7mil from RM719.7mil a year ago, and net profit was down at RM31.5mil versus RM51.9mil previously. Earnings per share dipped to 13.43 sen from 22.15 sen.
