MAURITIAN delegate Jimmy Chung For Yuen believes that in addition to good networking, hard work have played an important part in the international success of Chinese businessmen.

The managing director of Cathay Printing Ltd said that Chinese people were known for their diligence and resourcefulness, which had ensured their success in the business world.

“As long as you are willing to work hard, you will be able to succeed anywhere in the world,” he said.

A second-generation Chinese immigrant to Mauritius, Chung is also a vice-president of Mauritius Business Council. He said the council had ties with the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce.

Chung, who runs a family-owned printing outfit, said there were about 30,000 ethnic Chinese in Mauritius, constituting about 3% of the island nation in the Indian Ocean.

He said business in Mauritius was becoming more competitive now due to the country's growing exposure to the rest of the world.
