Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has reported a stronger set of numbers for the third quarter ended May 31 as a result of higher electricity consumption and lower foreign exchange losses. The group’s year-to-date results, however, were marginally lower than a year ago despite the higher sales.
Defying gloomy forecasts amid the recent SARS outbreak, the national electricity provider reported a net profit of RM205mil for its fiscal third quarter as opposed to a net loss of RM395mil in the corresponding period last year. At the pre-tax level, the company posted a profit of RM289mil versus a loss of RM326mil previously.
