SINGAPORE: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) tempered optimism yesterday about a near-term pick-up in Asian economic growth with a warning that the region still faces many risks, not least because the scars of the 1997/98 financial crisis have yet to heal.
The ADB said that the end of the SARS outbreak, tentative signs of improving global demand and the swift conclusion to the Iraq war, which has helped keep a lid on oil prices, all boded well for East Asia.
