Rafidah: Malaysia close to signing Tifa with US


MALAYSIA is moving closer to signing a trade and investment pact with the United States that could pave the way for a bilateral free trade agreement with the country's largest trading partner, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said yesterday. 

She said her ministry had received the go-ahead from the Cabinet to begin negotiating the details of this pact, known as the Trade & Investment Framework Agreement (Tifa), with their US counterparts.
