Unisem (M) Bhd has reported a pre-tax loss of RM5.5mil for the quarter ended June 30 compared with a profit of RM5.7mil in the previous corresponding period. Revenue fell to RM60.6mil from RM64.7mil and net loss amounted to RM5mil versus a profit of RM4.2mil a year ago. Unisem lost 3.51 sen per share for the quarter compared with earnings of 2.96 sen per share previously. 

For the 6 months to June 30, Unisem posted a pre-tax loss of RM13.2mil compared with RM5.1mil profit a year ago. Revenue improved to RM114.6mil from RM110.8mil but the company lost RM12.2mil at the bottomline compared with a net profit of RM2.9mil previously. 

SCOMI GROUP BHD unit Kota Minerals and Chemicals Sdn Bhd (KMC) has secured a RM5.5mil contract from Premier Petroleum Myanmar Ltd to provide drilling fluid materials, low toxicity mineral oil and engineering services for the Yetagun Field Development in the Andaman Sea. 

In a statement, Scomi said KMC had accepted and signed the letter of intent from Premier. – AFX 

Industronics Bhd has secured a contract to supply and install an integrated flight information display system for the new Bangkok Airport currently under construction. This brings the total value of overseas contracts secured by Industronics this year to RM40mil, the company said yesterday. – Bernama  

BLD Plantation Bhd will be listed on the KLSE main board under the “plantation” sector starting from July 21, a KLSE circular said. – AFX 

Knusford Bhd said it has placed out 22.212 million shares or about 30% of its existing shares under a private placement exercise at RM1.36 per share. – AFX 

HALIM MAZMIN BHD has entered into an Islamic financing facility pursuant to the syariah principle of Ijarah Muntahiyah BitTamlik with Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd and Southern Bank Bhd for RM58mil for a period of 5 years. The facility was to refinance the existing borrowings of the group and is expected to result in interest savings in the future financial years. – Bernama 

MALAYSIAN RESOURCES CORP BHD yesterday announced the completion of the proposed acquisition of 50% equity interest in Harmonic Fairway Sdn Bhd from Anchor Developments Pte Ltd and Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd. – Bernama 

PCCS Group Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Mega Labels & Stickers Sdn Bhd, has entered into a sale and purchase ownership interest agreement with Oriental Pacific Industries Ltd for the acquisition of 100% of the registered capital of US$3.54mil in the capital of Blopak China Private Ltd at a total consideration of US dollar equivalent to RM4.106mil resulting in PCCS being the ultimate holding company of Blopak. – Bernama 

EVERMASTER GROUP BHD has chalked up a pretax profit of RM166,000 for the 4th quarter ended March 31, 2003 compared to a pretax loss of RM1.3mil in the previous corresponding quarter.  

This was achieved on the back of revenue of RM15.5mil compared to RM8.9mil previously. For the whole year, the company posted a lower pretax profit of RM3.1mil compared to RM7.6mil in the previous year.- Bernama
