KUMPULAN Ikram Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Protasco Bhd, is eyeing opportunities related to infrastructure projects in Asean and Asia Pacific in collaboration with CPG Laboratories Pte Ltd of Singapore.

Protasco is scheduled for listing on the KLSE main board on Aug 8.

Kumpulan Ikram, through its subsidiary, Ikram C&S, yesterday sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CPG Labs to conduct joint marketing and share market information about potential projects in the infrastructure areas.

Kumpulan Ikram managing director Datuk Chong Ket Pen said using their combined strength, they would promote and seek opportunities in the area of building and construction material testing, pavement evaluation and testing, as well as research and development (R&D).

“It is hoped that a further project proposal can be identified and developed jointly, after the endorsement of this MOU,” he told reporters after the signing of the MoU in Kajang yesterday.

CPG Labs was represented by its chairman Khor Poh Hwa.

CPG Labs, a company that specialises in quality assurance, building and construction material testing, pavement evaluation, R&D and training, is a corporatised entity of Singapore Public Works Department.

For a start, both companies would try promoting the use of recycling technology in maintaining roads, with expertise from Kumpulan Ikram, Chong said.

“We will start to promote this technology to the Singapore government, in particular its Land and Transport Authority, and we believe this technology will be well received,” he said.

On further collaboration, Chong said the group hoped to embark on other engineering services-related projects, airport testing, as well as data collection in Singapore and other countries.

Khor said both parties would use their strength and expertise to provide engineering and consultancy services in these countries. – Bernama
