CHICAGO: Motorola Inc, the world’s second largest wireless telephone maker, has posted a second-quarter profit of US$119mil, but its earnings report also showed a drop in sales, prompting it to reel in forecasts in the face of intense competition in the Chinese market.
A slowdown in demand for mobile phones has been exacerbated by tougher conditions in Asia, where the recent SARS outbreak and increased competition from Chinese rivals have hurt Motorola's sales.
