LONDON: The BBC, Britain’s publicly funded broadcaster, was set yesterday to make its debut in the capital markets with a 30-year, £800mil bond issue.

A BBC spokeswoman said US investment bank Morgan Stanley had been mandated to market the bond to British investors and that the proceeds would be used to redevelop the broadcaster's headquarters here. The Times reported that the BBC bond would carry an AA rating from credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s but the issue would not carry a government guarantee. – Reuters
