SYDNEY: An Australian fuel company and its directors were hit with A$53mil in fines for tax evasion, the biggest such penalty in the country's corporate history.
Victorian Supreme Court judge Bernard Bongiorno imposed two fines of more than A$26mil each on Australian Petroleum Suppliers and the associated Goulburn Valley Liquid Tankers for illegally blending diesel fuel.
