MALAYSIAN newspaper publishers warned yesterday that an increase in the cover price of newspapers would be inevitable as the cost of newsprint, a major raw material in production for publishers, is expected to shoot up because of stiff anti-dumping duties.
The government had on May 28 imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of newsprint originating in or exported from Canada, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea and the US . The provisional anti-dumping duty ranges between 7.91% and 43.24%.
