SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA), which is facing its first-ever quarterly loss, announced more than 400 job cuts yesterday in its biggest round of layoffs ever, and analysts said more staff are likely to go.
The job cuts mostly hit ground staff, stoking speculation that the state-controlled airline, which has been hammered by the Iraq war and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak, would announce cuts in flight crew in the next few days.
