WASHINGTON: The US economy is recovering unevenly but growth should accelerate in the second half with the Iraqi war over and oil prices still low, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In its annual review of the American economy, made public by the US Treasury, the IMF said the United States had weathered a “short and shallow” downturn in 2001 relatively well and with high levels of productivity, or output per worker.
