THE US dollar has continued to weaken against other major world currencies after a sudden drop in American consumer confidence, suggesting that there could be a larger-than-expected cut in US interest rates towards the end of the month.
The euro rose yesterday close to its previous record high of 1.1932 against the greenback, while the Australian dollar, which has been surging against the US dollar for months now, climbed close to a four-year high.
