Eng Kah sets target for more products

Eng Kah Corp Bhd is targeting to introduce 300 types of perfumes, toiletries, cosmetics, household products and skincare items this year, compared with 224 released in 2002.  

Its group chairman and managing director Ewe Eng Kah told StarBiz that the KLSE second board listed group was confident of achieving the target as the group had already introduced 148 items as of last month.

“We recently signed up four new customers who would definitely boost our order book.  

“One of them is Technical Concepts LLC, an original equipment manufacturer for many leading brand names such as Kimberly-Clark while the other three are established local companies,” he said. 

Ewe said that one of the group’s business strategies this year was to expand its market share for halal skincare and perfumery products.  

“We are looking at tapping the Middle-East market. Presently, we are negotiating for a manufacturing contract from a reputable Middle-East distributor of halal skincare and perfumery products,” he said.  

For the 1st quarter ended March 31, the group posted a 7% rise in revenue to RM11.1mil and 17.4% increase in pre-tax profit to RM2.6mil, compared with the previous corresponding quarter.  

“For the 2002 fiscal year, we will propose a payout of 8% dividend, less tax of 28%, for our shareholders at the forthcoming AGM,” Ewe said.
