Datuk Noorazman Abdul Aziz

THE Finance Ministry has appointed Datuk Noorazman Abdul Aziz as the KLSE’s new chief operating officer.

It also announced the appointment of new managing directors for Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd, and a new director-general for the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (Lofsa).

The announcement of the four key senior appointments by Second Finance Minister Datuk Dr Jamaludin Jarjis in Seri Kembangan yesterday confirms reports in StarBiz last week, which had tipped key positions for Noorazman and Datuk Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid, who is MAHB’s new managing director.

Jamaludin added that Zukri Samat had been appointed managing director of Danaharta while Rosnah Omar would assume the position of director-general at Lofsa.

Noorazman, who is moving over from Lofsa where he is currently director-general, takes over the newly created position of chief operating officer at the KLSE effective July 1. He has over 20 years experience in the banking and financial sector.

Noorazman is also tipped to head the KLSE as its chief executive when its present executive chairman, Datuk Mohd Azlan Hashim, steps down. Azlan has indicated he wants to return to the private sector after the exchange’s demutualisation later this year.

Bashir, meanwhile, began his two-year tenure at MAHB on June 7. He has vast experience in the Malaysian civil aviation industry and was previously executive vice-president of Malaysia Airlines. He was most recently the Transport Ministry’s aviation advisor.

Zukri, who had been Danaharta’s acting head since June 1, will become its managing director with effect from July 1. He replaces Datuk Hamidy Hafiz, whose term as the agency’s managing director ends on June 30.

Danaharta said in a statement that having been a senior member of the agency’s management team since 1998, Zukri’s appointment would ensure continuity in its operations as it prepares for closure in 2005. Zukri was previously Danaharta's director of operations.

Rosnah, who succeeds Noorazman at Lofsa from July 1, has vast experience in financial services and is currently chief executive officer of Malaysia Building Society Bhd. She previously headed Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Bhd’s New York office.
