Premier card base to grow by 40%: HSBC

HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd expects to a 40% growth in its Premier customer base this year with the launch of its new Premier Centre at its Pusat Bandar Damansara branch in Kuala Lumpur. 

HSBC general manager (personal financial services) U Chen Hock said that with a strong base of 10,000 Premier members presently, the bank had decided to open its 5th Premier Centre after customers requested for one in the Damansara vicinity. 

“The Premier membership is by invitation only and it is exclusively for our top end individual or joint account customers,” U told a media briefing ahead of the launching ceremony yesterday.

Premier members need to pay a RM150 monthly charge or get a fee waiver by either purchasing RM200,000 in unit trusts, having RM200,000 in deposit savings , or by having a RM500,000 in home loans.” 

HSBC area manager for the Klang Valley, Willie Tham, said that with over 200 Premier Centres available in 25 countries, HSBC planned to open one Premier Centre in each of the 80 countries where the HSBC banks were located. 

Premier members are also awarded with a Premier credit card with a free annual fee waiver for life as well as services wherever a HSBC bank is located,” Tham said. 

The Premier credit card also rewards customers with a higher credit limit of a minimum of RM50,000, a finest range of gifts from reward points as well as special privilege discounts and priority treatment at renowned hotels, restaurants and car rentals. 

Premier members are special to the bank as they have a higher purchasing power of 3 to 6 times more than other customers and hold a greater potential to purchase from us,” U said. 

Apart from the new centre in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, HSBC has premier centres in Leboh Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Penang and Johor Baru. 

HSBC has issued a total of 450,000 credit cards, with 120,000 new credit cards approved in the last 12 months.
