AFTER months of wrangling, telecommunications companies (telcos) have finally agreed to a formula of sharing a common facility that could hopefully improve efficiency, widen cellular phone coverage and save millions of ringgit in capital expenditure (capex) for the telcos every year.
The four telcos Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd, Celcom (M) Bhd, TM Cellular Sdn Bhd and DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd yesterday signed an agreement with Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd to allow the latter to construct an initial 50 telecom towers in strategic locations throughout the peninsula by year-end.
