Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd registered a pre-tax profit of RM31.99mil for the first quarter ended March 31 compared with RM34.16mil in the previous corresponding quarter. 

Net profit declined to RM22.07mil from RM23.18mil previously, said Tan Chong in its unaudited first quarter results. 

The profit was achieved on the back of RM349.88mil sales compared with RM377.88mil previously. – Bernama 

Warisan TC Holdings Bhd posted a lower pre-tax profit of RM4.75mil for the first quarter ended March 31 compared with RM6.10mil in the preceding corresponding period. 

Its net profit also fell to RM3.40mil compared with RM4.75mil previously. 

This was achieved on the back of RM58.40mil revenue versus RM52.63mil previously. –Bernama 

IJM CORPORATION BHD posted a higher pre-tax profit of RM44.64mil for the first quarter ended March 31 compared with RM36.41mil in the previous corresponding quarter. 

Its net profit improved to RM27.33mil in the first quarter versus RM24.15mil previously. 

Sales was higher at RM390.89mil versus RM240.71mil previously. – Bernama 

MBM Resources Bhd turned in a lower pre-tax profit of RM27.97mil in the first quarter ended March 31 compared with RM31.47mil in the first quarter of 2002. 

Its net profit for the quarter under review was also lower at RM17.38mil versus RM17.99mil previously. 

Sales, however, was higher at RM180.06mil compared with RM161.90mil. – Bernama 

Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd saw very little change in its pre-tax profit for the first quarter ended March 31 at RM45.74mil compared with RM45.72mil in the first quarter of 2002. 

Net profit stood at RM32.55mil compared with RM32.57mil. while revenue was at RM143.53mil versus RM144.69mil previously. – Bernama  

Hong Leong Industries Bhd (HLI) has reported a pre-tax profit of RM2.3mil in the 3rd quarter ended March 31, 2003 in contrast to a pre-tax loss of RM13.8mil in the same period a year ago. 

The turnaround was largely attributed to improvement in the semiconductor sector, the company said in a statement.  

HLI owns 60% of chipmaker Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd. 

HLI's revenue was higher at RM494mil for the quarter versus RM448mil previously. 

For the 9 months ended March 31, the group’s pre-tax profit stood at RM28.8mil against a pre-tax loss of RM73.6mil last year.  

Turnover improved to RM1.49bil from RM1.38bil.  

Hume Industries (M) Bhd recorded a pre-tax profit RM19.7mil on revenue of RM132mil in the 3rd quarter ended March 31, 2003 versus a pre-tax profit of RM68.6mil on RM1.1bil turnover previously.  

The company has proposed a 9.2 sen net dividend for the period under review. The stock would be traded ex-dividend on June 9. 

For the 9 months to March 31, the group pre-tax profit was at RM139mil against RM209mil previously.  

Hume Industries subsidiary Hume Cemboard Bhd's pre-tax profit expanded to RM194mil in the 3rd quarter ended March 31, 2003 on revenue of RM29mil, due to a one-time gain from the disposal of business and assets.
