MCI agrees to US$500m settlement

NEW YORK: MCI, formerly WorldCom, agreed to a record US$500mil settlement of its accounting fraud probe with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, but a court review is still pending, according to documents filed on Monday. 

The agreement for the record civil penalty needs approval from the bankruptcy court as well as the judge hearing civil suits against the telecom giant, US district judge Jed Rakoff.
