LONDON (AP) - British Airways PLC overcame the prevailing gloom in the airline industry by announcing a return to full-year profit Monday, but heavy fourth-quarter losses suggested tough times lay ahead.
The carrier said a drive to slash costs had helped it post net profits of 85 million pounds (US$136 million) in the year to March 31, compared with a net loss of 129 million pounds in the 12 months ending March 31, 2002.
