THE corporate leader should have the mentality of a true champion. It is like the African who ran gracefully like a gazelle, his lithe form floating across the ground. He had the tall erect body of a Zulu warrior. His face was serene as the air blew pass him. He ran with his eyes gently and confidently surveying all before him. He did not look back. Way ahead of the rest, the African ran to become the Olympic champion of the marathon. Everyone rose to cheer. His smiled and raised waving arms acknowledged the honour. Everyone knew a king was born, and a worthy king at that.
A champion should be beholden to the people for the recognition given to him. Some so-called champions are vain and even abusive. They are the misguided unsporting champions people would love to hate and who do not realise that their glory is meaningless without the admiration of the people.
