THERE is a growing awareness among Malaysians to write their will and the numbers have been increasing since Sept 11 attacks in the United States, particularly among the younger age group.

Rockwills Corp Sdn Bhd, the personalised and professional will-writing and custody service provider, had received increasing number of customers for the past two years.

Its chairman Johari Low Abdullah said the global war on terrorism, Iraq war and the spread of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus had resulted overwhelming interest from the public about will preparation.

“Numbers of our customers have increased quite drastically. Last year the company wrote some 7,500 wills, and this year we project an increase of up to more than 10,000,” he told a press conference after introducing a new product, iWill in Petaling Jaya last Wednesday.

Launched in August 1995, the company has a paid-up capital of more than RM2.5mil with a total revenue of RM7.5mil last year. This year, it expects revenue of more than RM10mil.

Its chief executive officer Saw Leong Aun said compared with the legal firm that offered will-writing service, Rockwills offered a more personalised, professional and specialised service.

To date it has written more than 30,000 wills.

He said there was a huge potential in the domestic market and an estimated four million to five million Malaysians had yet to prepare their will.

iWill, which stands for Innovative Willwriting Package, is a special package where clients can purchase will-writing vouchers and exercise a will-writing option later. It comes with great savings and extra benefits such as free will-writing book, special discount to purchase BHLB Trustee's PASSPORT and others.

Saw said iWill could be purchased in advance and the option to write the will could be exercised within a year from purchase.

“It is available in four different packages, namely Standard, Superior, Prestige and TrustGold. Prices range between RM360 and RM2,008. The packages include basic will writing worth RM280 and will custody,” he said. – Bernama
