NEW YORK: Fast-food giant Yum! Brands Inc has reported lower first-quarter earnings, as surging international sales were offset by a drop in its US business.
For its fiscal first quarter ended March 22, the parent company of the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant chains posted a net income of US$117mil, off 6% from US$124mil a year ago. Yum! said special items cut US$1mil from its earnings.
