THE Malaysian Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) has called for a further reduction in import duty for all garment fabrics in an effort to stave off “very stiff” competition from lower-cost producing countries.
MGMA said in a memorandum to the International Trade and Industry Ministry that the import duty on all garment fabrics should be reduced to only 5% or less.
