SINGAPORE: DBS Group Holdings Ltd, South-East Asia’s largest bank, reported a slight and unexpected 0.4% rise in first-quarter profit yesterday, boosted by non-interest income and investment product sales.
The improved performance from such areas as government bond trading helped offset weak loan demand and higher provisions for bad loans in the group's key markets of Singapore and Hong Kong.
