NEW YORK: Stocks rose on Thursday as growth prospects at Finnish cellphone maker Nokia lifted technology shares and better-than-expected results, along with a report on regional manufacturing, pushed the Dow up 80 points.
With almost a third of the companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index having reported, investors are happy that results were in line with expectations or even a little better.
